Coin Silver Tea Service by Edward Lownes


A fine neoclassical four-piece "coin" tea service by Philadelphia silversmith Edward Lownes (1792-1834). Hallmarked for 1818 and wonderfully detailed with a chased spout and lion's mask handles.

Lownes is a noted silversmith and is represented in every major American museum showing decorative arts. Ref. "American Silver at Winterthur," by Ian M.G. Quimby with Dianne Johnson, Pg. 387.
