Empire Clock of a Seated Youth Holding a Scroll and Lyre

A late, large-scale French Empire clock of a seated, classically draped youth sitting atop the clock case holding a lyre and scroll. The rectangular case is decorated with wreaths and musical instruments, in gilded bronze of the highest quality. The gilded dial is signed Rossel a Rouen and has painted Roman numerals and black Breguet hands. The original silk-string suspension movement rings the hours and halfs on a bell.
